Ura Launches Tender Next Gen Driving Centre Lorong Bistari

Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) have jointly launched a public tender for a new Next-Generation Driving Centre (NGDC) at Lorong Bistari, located in the western fringe of Choa Chu Kang.

The upcoming NGDC will replace the existing Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC) which will be closed by the end of 2030 to make way for new residential developments. The proposed facility spans a land size of 2.4 hectares and has a maximum gross floor area (GFA) of 780,390 square feet. It is envisioned as a modern and technologically advanced training hub for all types of vehicles.

The URA shared that the NGDC will feature intelligent driving circuits, simulator-based training, and real-time monitoring systems to improve driver assessment and safety. It will also provide training for heavy vehicles under Class 4 and 5, complementing the current Singapore Safety Driving Centre (SSDC) which is the only facility offering such courses.

“The new centre aims to revolutionize driver education by incorporating advanced simulation and monitoring technologies. This will not only enhance safety standards but also ensure consistency in training outcomes,” says Superintendent Lim Wei Kiat, Director of the Traffic Police Department.
