UOL’s 2Q2022 profits down 31% due to lower fair value gain on investment properties
The Watergardens at Canberra continues its winning streak, taking home awards for Design Excellence and Top Development at the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards (EPEA) 2025. This adds to the three awards it received in 2022 (Innovation Excellence, Landscape Excellence and Sustainability Excellence) when it was still under construction. Located in the newly developed Canberra estate, the 448-unit development was fully sold out in less than two years after its launch in 2021.
Developed by United Venture Development – a joint venture between UOL Group, Singapore Land Group, and Kheng Leong Company – The Watergardens takes up a 296,719 sq ft site along Canberra Drive. The developers secured the 99-year leasehold plot through a Government Land Sale tender in March 2020 for $270.2 million, or approximately $650 psf per plot ratio.
Designed by P&T Consultants, the residential blocks are oriented to maximise natural ventilation and boast a clean, modern design with sun-shading structures and grey-tinted laminated glass. The site’s irregular shape and sloping terrain were embraced by the architects, who placed the blocks at different levels, alongside tiered pools and layered gardens. This creates a serene environment that seamlessly connects water, greenery, and architecture.
The Watergardens boasts three distinct landscaped zones, each designed by STX Landscape Architects. The Forest Pool zone has the largest cluster of recreational pools, including a water jet terrace, water slides, and an aqua gym. The 50m lap pool zone includes a jacuzzi alcove and a cabana deck, while the recreation lawn area offers an open green space adorned with flower gardens and a grill pavilion.
The residences at The Watergardens cater to a variety of configurations and sizes, from two-bedroom units to four-bedroom units ranging from 646 sq ft to 1,528 sq ft. Thoughtful features, such as double-volume living and dining areas and fully enclosed kitchens, are incorporated into different unit types to suit different buyers’ needs. The interiors are conceptualised by Index Design and feature a marble effect for main living areas and a timber-looking finish for bedroom floors.
With its harmonious integration of landscape, architecture, and interiors, The Watergardens at Canberra embodies resort-style living in an urban setting – a design vision that has rightfully earned it accolades at the EPEA 2025.
