Momentus Hotel Alexandra Wins Best Upscale Hotel Award Its Eco Conscious Reinvention
Momentus Hotel Alexandra, the flagship property of Momentus Hotels & Resorts, a hospitality arm of the diversified real estate group SingHaiyi, is a prestigious hotel situated at the intersection of Alexandra Road and Jalan Bukit Merah. Originally opened in July 2015 and managed by Park Hotel Group, the hotel underwent a $15 million refurbishment and reopened under the new brand on March 1, 2023.
The hotel is part of the mixed-use development Alexandra Central, which was developed by SingHaiyi’s predecessor, Chip Eng Seng Corp. Sitting above a three-storey retail podium and with parking on the fourth to sixth levels, the 442-room hotel occupies a prominent corner in the area.
Designed by renowned architectural firm DP Architects, Momentus Hotel Alexandra boasts a clean and modern facade with a neutral color scheme and sleek lines. The hotel has its own dedicated drop-off, entrance, and lobby on the first level, providing a separate and exclusive experience for guests. The guestrooms, located on the seventh to 19th floors, offer stunning views of the city.
In line with the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, eco-friendly practices were integrated during the refurbishment, according to Felix Wong, the hotel’s general manager. The interior redesign, led by KKS International, included energy-efficient features such as smart digital thermostats in every room, filtration taps providing direct drinking water, and the use of biodegradable materials for dry bathroom amenities. Wong also mentioned that technology and innovation were incorporated to enhance both guest experiences and operational efficiency in facility and resource management, water and energy efficiency, and food and waste management.
The hotel’s interior was designed with a modern and nature-inspired aesthetic, prioritizing comfort and a sense of calm, as per Wong. Additionally, the overall flow and atmosphere have been enhanced to provide guests with a more pleasant experience. With a range of room categories, from Superior and Deluxe rooms to Momentum Club rooms and Executive Suites, guests can choose the one that best suits their needs. The sizes range from 258 sq ft to 517 sq ft, and there are also meeting rooms and event venues for business travelers.
For relaxation, guests can visit the seventh-floor lifestyle deck and take a dip in the 25m infinity pool while enjoying panoramic views of the sunset towards the southwest of Singapore. The space also includes the newly rebranded Verandah Pool Bar & Grill and Verandah Rooftop Rotisserie by Social F+B by Design, with a swim-up bar and floor-to-ceiling glass for a more immersive experience. On the topmost level, the 19th floor, the hotel features the Momentum Club Lounge, offering uninterrupted views of the city skyline and privacy for discerning guests.
In 2025, the property was awarded the Best Upscale Hotel Award at the EdgeProp Singapore Excellence Awards (EPEA). Wong shared that the team’s goal was to create a hotel that combines aesthetic appeal with sustainability and meaningful guest experiences, and the award is a recognition of their success in achieving that.
Conveniently located in the city-fringe area, Momentus Hotel Alexandra appeals to both business and leisure travelers looking for proximity to the city within a vibrant and local neighborhood setting. Wong mentioned that the guest mix is approximately 60% business travelers and 40% leisure guests.
The hotel’s location also offers easy access to Alexandra Central Mall and Ikea Alexandra, which recently completed a $20 million, three-year revamp. It is only a 22- to 25-minute drive from Changi Airport and a four-minute drive from Queenstown and Redhill MRT stations on the East-West Line.
