Villa Orsucci, a historic estate located in the Tuscan region of Italy, is currently on the market. This magnificent property, once owned by Caroline Bonaparte, sister of Napoleon I, comprises over 3,200 sq m of land and boasts a main villa, an annex, a private church, and more than 6 hectares of land featuring swimming pools, gravel paths and additional outbuildings.

Listed by Italian agency Lionard Luxury Real Estate, the asking price for the property has not been disclosed. Originally built in the 16th century, the estate was transformed into a grand residence in the 18th century by owner Coriolano Orsucci, a prominent silk merchant. He enlisted the services of renowned Baroque architect Filippo Juvara to renovate and expand the villa.

In 1836, Caroline Bonaparte purchased the villa, which remained in her ownership until her death in 1839. As the younger sister of Napoleon and former Queen of Naples, Bonaparte brought her own personal touch to the estate.

The main villa is a three-story property with an attic and basement, spanning approximately 2,500 sq m. It boasts a central living room, multiple bedrooms, kitchens, and dining areas. A notable feature of the villa is its double-height hall, adorned with two large paintings from 1710, believed to have been brought to the estate by Bonaparte herself. The villa also features period furniture, tapestries, and intricate stucco decorations.

The annex, which has been recently restored, offers five bedrooms, each with a private bathroom. In total, Villa Orsucci boasts 10 bedrooms. Surrounded by rolling hills, the estate is situated just minutes away from Lucca’s town center and an hour’s drive from Florence.

For potential buyers who desire even more space, Lionard notes that the villa’s stables and farmer’s house are available for purchase separately from the main property. These structures occupy an additional 15,000 sq m of land adjacent to the villa’s grounds.
